The letterbooks are signed by William Ball Slade (1843-1938) and later by his son Oswald Carey Slade (1882-1956). The subjects covered include exhibits at the Royal National Exhibition and the Royal Agricultural Show; supply of stud rams and bulls to purchasers; payments of accounts; weekly reports to, and correspondence with, the Scottish Widows Fund Life Assurance; lists of employees; and stock returns.

Series 3: Prize certificates (1897-1906)
The first volumes in this series contain prize certificates won by Marshall and Slade at the Royal Agricultural Society exhibitions in Toowoomba. The last two volumes contain copied lists of prizes for sheep and cattle, arranged by year, listing description, class, how the animals were fed, prizes at each show, and summary of prizes received.

Three cash books, the third of which includes a ledger that contains wheat and dairy statistics. Statistics for wheat for a period during the 1930's includes the number of bags, sales to the Wheat Board, and other sales. The dairy statistics include costs and receipts.

2 bound journals. The first shows settlement of wages in cash, stores, and meat; and settlement of wages of other bills by the station. The second journal shows meat sold to employees, and the ration of meat, flour, sugar, tea, and soap to employees.

This collection includes maps, receipts, and statements for Glengallan, Langway, and Ashgrove Stations, relating to prizes, silverware, jewellery, clothes, furniture, donations to the Church of England, supplies for station employees, and various other accounts. Volume three includes a list of Glengallan lands sold by McDougall and Co. on May, 1912.

Two volumes of shearing records. Details recorded include the numbered rams shorn by a particular shearer, shearers' names, and the number of sheep shorn during the seasonal shearings. From October 1905 the figures for Glengallan, East Glengallan, and Ashgrove Stations are shown separately. Volume 2 contains letters concerning the purchasers of stock, and concerning prizes. There are various loose letters in the front of the second book that do not refer to shearing.

Series 15: Sheep, cattle, and horse returns (1906-1920)
These returns list the numbers of sheep, cattle, and horses on the stations for Glengallan, The Glen, East Glengallan, Longway and Ashgrove stations. Information includes classes of stock, stock killed for rations, and remarks. The returns are divided by station name. Included loose in the volumes are small amounts of correspondence and figures.

Series 16: Correspondence (1871-1904)
This series consists of correspondence relating to the ownership and management of Glengallan Station and other properties owned by the Slade family. These associated properties include The Glen, Ashgrove, East Glengallan, and Dahra near Longreach. There is a considerable amount of correspondence concerning the partnership between Charles Marshall and William Slade, and Marshall's beneficiaries, after his death, as well as the raising and payment of loans by the partnership.
The sale of Glengallan to the Queensland Government, and the purchase of other properties by William Slade, are also documented. Most of the correspondence is addressed to William Slade, although some is addressed to his son, Oswald Carey Slade. The majority of the correspondence is of a business nature, but there is a small amount of correspondence relating to William Slade's membership of organisations and other personal matters.
