Generic letter from the Honorary Secretary of the Queensland Recruiting Committee directed at businesses/employers concerning preference being given to returned soldiers for job vacancies and for jobs to be kept open for employees who enlist. Attached to the letter are two newspaper clippings from the Telegraph newspaper concerning job preferences for returned soldiers and sailors.

Minutes of a meeting summoned by the Mayor of Brisbane, Alderman George Down, to consider the question of recruiting in Queensland. This was the formative meeting of the Queensland Recruiting Committee. Attached to the minutes is a letter from the committee to the Commandant at Victoria Barracks requesting his assistance and support. The letter states that the committee is the first movement of its kind in Australia. Attached to the minutes is a hand-written document directed at the newspapers of the time; Brisbane Courier, Daily Mail, Telegraph and Daily Standard.

Although the minutes are dated 1916 this is most likely a mistake as the minutes mention unsettled conditions and that the committee has been able to carry on satisfactorily during the Referendum Campaign. The second conscription referendum was held on 20 December 1917 so these minutes were probably written in January 1918. In addition the committee is referred to as the State Recruiting Committee, not the Queensland Recruiting Committee as it was known in 1916.
