Administrative / Biographical history

Paul Curtis has worked in the music industry for over 22 years and is a unique combination of manager, promoter, label and venue/event producer and visual artist. Paul currently manages bands including alternative local Brisbane bands Regurgitator (since 1994) and I Heart Hiroshima (since 2005) under the moniker Consume. He tours bands such as Peaches, Ratatat, Mono, Shonen Knife, Boredoms, Trans Am, New Pants, Stereo Total, Buck65, JD Samson, Kid606 and more, plus upcoming Mouse on Mars & Gang of Four in Australia and New Zealand, and coordinates tours to China, Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia, Cambodia and other locations in Asia. He founded and operates the alternative music label Valve Records, through which he has produced over 100 releases covering Brisbane, Australian, Japanese, US, German, British, French, Russian & Chinese artists. Despite this prolific output, Valve is utilised more as a supplementary conduit than a serious commercial venture for Paul's activities. Paul also produces various projects, and conceived and developed the multi-media live recording installation including Band in a Bubble in conjunction with Regurgitator & Channel [V] in 2004, which fused music, TV and online worlds in a media parody. He also co-curates the Up Late programmes at GoMA, and works on visual art when time or opportunity permits.
