Administrative / Biographical history

Coochin Coochin Homestead is a heritage-listed homestead at Boonah, Queensland, Australia. It was built from the 1840s to the 1920s. The main section of the homestead was constructed some time in the 1840s. The homestead was moved to its current position in 1871. In 1883, the property sold to James Thomas Marsh Bell, part owner of Camboon Station in the Dawson Valley who acquired the property in partnership with F C Hyde. In the 1920s, Coochin Coochin Homestead became the social focus of the area, hosting many large parties and entertaining many notable visitors including Edward, Prince of Wales in 1920. From the end of the Second World War until 1965, Coochin Coochin operated as a small dairy with a maximum of sixty milking cows. The property is currently owned by the Bell family and was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 21 August 1992.
