This series contains correspondence received and sent by Robert Logan Jack, including a letterbook which contains material dating from 1883-1889.

This series contains an incomplete set of field notebooks kept by Robert Logan Jack. In them are recorded detailed notes of expeditions throughout Queensland, while employed as Government Geologist for the colony.

Included are narratives and observations of Aboriginal people who he encountered in northern Queensland.

This series contains field notebooks recording geological survey work undertaken by Robert Logan Jack and his son Robert Lockhart Jack.

This series contains a large collection of maps utilized by Robert Logan Jack while undertaking geological surveys. The maps (some of which are annotated) show principal localities and landmarks, land holdings, and the natural resources of a location.

These maps represent Robert Logan Jack's career as a geological surveyor in the following regions:

• United Kingdom: Scotland and England
• Asia: China and Korea
• Australia: Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia (and the Northern Territory), New South Wales, and Victoria.
• Military maps relating to the First World War in Europe

• Certificate of membership, Robert Logan Jack for the Institute of Mining and Metalurgy
• Map showing part of Cape York telegraph extensions, annotated: 'this is a tracing of the only plan in this office'.
• Plans, tracings and blue prints of Eclipse, Caledonian, Monarch, Ivanhoe, Kitchener and other mines relating to the Stannary Hills Report, 1906. 
• Testimonial letters in favour of Robert Logan Jack.
• Booklet 'Testimonials in favour of Mr Robert L Jack' which represents a printed version of the originals held.
• 'Chiastolites from Bimbowrie, South Australia' by Douglas Mawson. Published in the 'Memoirs of the Royal Society of South Australia, Vol. II Part 3. The item includes reproduced black and white, and colour photographs.
• Bulletin titled 'Climatic control of Australian production' by Griffith Taylor, produced by the Commonwealth Bureau of Meteorology, Melbourne.
• Reports on proposed railway, Port Norman, Normanton and Cloncurry Railway, Queensland with bound with maps. Also included are two copies with annotations.

This series is a large collection of published works, reports, bound volumes, articles, and pamphlets, many of which were authored by Robert Logan Jack.
