This series contains an incomplete set of field notebooks kept by Robert Logan Jack. In them are recorded detailed notes of expeditions throughout Queensland, while employed as Government Geologist for the colony.
Included are narratives and observations of Aboriginal people who he encountered in northern Queensland.

This series contains a large collection of maps utilized by Robert Logan Jack while undertaking geological surveys. The maps (some of which are annotated) show principal localities and landmarks, land holdings, and the natural resources of a location.
These maps represent Robert Logan Jack's career as a geological surveyor in the following regions:

This series contains certificates, plans, tracings, testimonial letters, reports and articles relating to the work of Robert Logan Jack, geological surveyor.
- Certificate of membership, Robert Logan Jack for the Institute of Mining and Metalurgy
- Map showing part of Cape York telegraph extensions, annotated: 'this is a tracing of the only plan in this office'.
- Plans, tracings and blue prints of Eclipse, Caledonian, Monarch, Ivanhoe, Kitchener and other mines relating to the Stannary Hills Report, 1906.
- Testimonial letters in favour of Robert Logan Jack.
- Booklet 'Testimonials in favour of Mr Robert L Jack' which represents a printed version of the originals held.
- 'Chiastolites from Bimbowrie, South Australia' by Douglas Mawson. Published in the 'Memoirs of the Royal Society of South Australia, Vol. II Part 3. The item includes reproduced black and white, and colour photographs.
