Administrative / Biographical history

Private Arthur Stanley Dobbs was a 19 year old farmer from Lake Albert, Wagga, New South Wales when he enlisted in the 7th Light Horse Regiment on 28 October 1914. He embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A35 Berrima on 19 December 1914, bound for Egypt. Dobbs saw action in the Sinai campaign, and served in Egypt and Palestine. His service was interrupted by a variety of illnesses, but he also successfully completed a Hotchkiss Gun course and was awarded the Military Medal for gallantry in the field and devotion to duty. Dobbs survived the war and returned to Australia on the H.T. Burmah in January 1919.
