Scope and content

Correspondence, papers and photographs relating to the Williams family of Beaudesert, in particular to the First World War service of #3654 Herbert Leichardt Williams, who served with 31st Infantry Battalion who was one of the 'Tank Boys' responsible for salvaging the Mephisto Tank from the battlefield around Monument Wood, France on 22 July 1918. The names of the Tank Boys are inscribed on the front of the Mephisto.
