Series 1: North Queensland (1881-2014)
Papers and photographs relating to various businesses run by the Brims family in North Queensland. Harriet Brims ran various photographic studios in Ingham and Mareeba including her own photographic studio, the Britannia Studio. Harriet's husband, Donald Gray Brims ran various businesses including working as a blacksmith, wheelwright and brass moulder in Blackall where he gained a contract to perform maintenance for Cobb & Co. He then moved to Ingham in early 1894 where they operated a sawmill along the Seymour River.
In 1902, they moved to Mareeba where Donald established a sash and door factory. His sons Francis, Marcus and William joined the company and the business became known as D.G. Brims & Sons in 1909. They built a number of buildings in Mareeba including the Queensland National Bank Ltd. and Francis and Marcus built St. George's Church, the first church in Mareeba in 1905. The Brims moved to Brisbane in 1912.

Includes photographs of Britannia Studio and the Brims' sawmill in Ingham, St. George's Church in Mareeba and the Geraldton World newspaper office in Innisfail. The certificate is for first prize in a photographic competition held by the Mareeba District Mining, Pastoral, Agricultural and Industrial Association. Harriet Brims was one of the judges.

Papers and photographs relating to the Brims Brother Builders based in Mareeba. Includes correspondence, newspaper clippings and photographs with particular focus on the history of St. George The Martyr Anglican Church which was built in 1905 by Francis and Marcus Brims when they were teenagers. It was the first church in Mareeba. Includes an issue of The Northern Churchman (Vol. IX. No. 103, 7 August 1905) and a publication by Jacqueline Morris titled '100 Years of History of the Anglican Church of Mareeba'.

Photograph of Donald Gray Brims at his blacksmith works at Blackall. In May 1882, Donald Brims established his own business as a blacksmith, wheelwright and brass moulder, where he performed maintenance on Cobb & Co. coaches and horses and built Condamine cow bells. Papers and photographs relating to the radio telegraphic instruments engineered and made by Marcus Brims in Mareeba. Includes correspondence with the Postmaster-General's Department regarding licence applications (1913-1922) and correspondence with the Wireless Institute of Australia. Queensland Division (1980-1982) and information about the history of amateur radio in Queensland. Also included is a certificate from the Tablelands Radio and Electronics Club awarded to the Brims family in 2014 in recognition of their support in celebrating 100 years of licenced amateur radio in Queensland.

Borneo logs shipment: photographs and clippings (1934; 1947)
Photographs and clippings relating to shipments of logs from Borneo by D.G. Brims & Sons. In 1934, the Queensland Government established the Queensland Plywood and Veneer Pool to control the volume of logs supplied to each plywood manufacturer at equal amounts regardless of their capacity. D.G. Brims & Sons declined to take part in the pool and as a result lost access to government-controlled native hoop pine supplies. This led to D.G. Brims & Sons importing a large volume of Pacific maple logs from Borneo.
