Cheryl Zena Kernot (born 5 December 1948) is an Australian politician, academic, and political activist. Senator Cheryl Kernot was the Australian Democrats Senator for Queensland from 1990 to 1997, and the leader of the Australian Democrats from 1993 to 1997. In 1997, Kernot resigned her Senate seat and the leadership of the Democrats to move to the Australian Labor Party. From 1998 to 2001, Kernot was a Member of the Australian Parliament for Dickson, a Brisbane suburb.
