Abstract
Correspondence, photographs and commemorative items relating to the McKie family in England and Australia.
Scope and content

This collection of letters and photographs reflects the lives of three McKie brothers - Robert, David and James who emigrated to Australia in the 1860's, and their sister Annie, who followed a decade later. Retained by Kitty McKie in London, it captures the difficult times experienced during the early settlement of Queensland, and in particular follows two young men - Kenneth and his English cousin Douglas - who both served during the First World War and died within weeks of each other. There is also mention of Harold Kenneth Macartney, who served with 2/19th Infantry Battalion, taken prisoner of war of the Japanese during the Second World War.
