Large collection of material relating to Brisbane architect and artist David Phillips. Included are architectural plans and specifications, student sketches, works of art, photographs, scrapbooks, ephemera, correspondence and personal papers. The collection also includes papers and architectural plans relating to David Phillips' father Lionel Blythewood Phillips.

Administrative / Biographical history

David Phillips was born in Brisbane in 1929, the son of architect Lionel Blythewood Phillips (1896-1965), of the architectural firm of Hall & Phillips who designed such important Queensland buildings as McWhirters and Shell House in Brisbane. David Phillips graduated in architecture from the University of Queensland and practised as an architect for 42 years. His training fostered a life-long interest in drawing buildings.
