Home movie films documenting family life in Brisbane and excursions and holidays throughout Queensland.
Scope and content

The films include footage of Noosa, Maroochydore, Southport, Currumbin Bird Sanctuary, Tweed Heads, Cedar Creek, Callide, Mundubbera, Townsville, and Mount Isa. The films also include footage of a family wedding in Melbourne; scouting activities; a parade in Queen Street, Brisbane, 1959; water skiing on the Brisbane River; a cane train running through Nambour; prospecting at Lightening Ridge, New South Wales; camping and beach holidays; and the building of speedboat called 'Wisp'.

Administrative / Biographical history

Jeffrey Cage (1929-2018) trained as a fitter and turner and worked for Thiess Brothers, a construction and mining company. He was often flown to Mt Isa in the firm's own aircraft to assemble machinery for the mines. The aircraft was flown by an ex-German World War II Luftwaffe pilot. He was married to Shirley, a teacher, and the couple had three sons. The family lived at Yeronga, Brisbane.
