Administrative / Biographical history

Angledool Station, is located 75 km west of Longreach. Often confused with Angeldool in upper western New South Wales near the southern border of Queensland. John Wylie 'Ian' Philp (1907-1955) former manager of Stanley Downs Station, Stamford, was the successful applicant for Portion 5 (29,700 acres) during the resumption from Maneroo Station in 1939. After his death it was transferred to his wife Lilias Jean Philp (1914-1977) nee McClymont. Lilias Philp and her son Norman Wylie Philp managed the station as tenants in common until December 1980 when Norman Philp and his wife Rosemary Anne Philp began managing the station as tenants in common. In 2002, they purchased an adjoining portion (Parish of Karvella) and a new lease was issued over the area of 26,129 hectares.
