Biographical history
"Cancer: Captain B sails the 'C'" was a 10 min. animated educational film to explain cancer to children. It was produced in 1985. The idea for the film came in response to Max Bannah and his wife Sylvia Bannah's difficulties in explaining the disease to their son who was suffering from cancer. The film attracted the funding of the Queensland Film Corporation (QFC). In 1987 it received the Children’s Award for Science and Nature from the Australian Teachers of Media (ATOM). Educational Media International was responsible for sales and distribution rights. Carlton and United Breweries wanted to expand. The company commissioned George Patterson (Brisbane) to produce a television commercial advertising "Fosters lager" in Queensland. Their employee Greville Patterson wrote the commercial and Max Bannah Animation was commissioned to animate it. The central characters of the commercial were a father and son, Blue and Son. The animations were used in the commercial/s and other promotional material. In some cases the cels are accompanied by paper drawings that sat behind the cel when the cels were painted.  The drawings were used as a guide in the painting of the cels.  They generally contained the outline of the drawing although sometimes they contained colour such as indications of which colour should go where.  Sometimes 2 or more cells were overlaid to produce the finished result.  Other times the paper contained the full background for the completed drawing upon which the painted cel was overlaid and the two together produced the finished result. 

The volume of material available for each item varies.  The number of cels does not always equal the number of pages of paper drawings.

Biographical history
Mitre 10 commissioned Mojo Brisbane to produce a TV commercial advertising their product in Queensland. Their employee Greville Patterson wrote the script and Max Bannah Animation was commissioned to animate it. The result was a 30 sec. TV commercial "I love Saturday morning at Mitre 10" produced in 1988. The central character in the commercial was called "Nails". Figure outlines were drawn with 3B pencil then photocopied onto acetate sheets. "Nails" was coloured in the Mitre 10 colours by applying pencil to a paper underlay with skin coloured areas coloured using pastels. The success of the TV commercial in Queensland led to the production of a TV commercial for New South Wales in 1990 featuring a revised "Nails". "Nails" had to be revised to enable to better enable the character to connect with Sydney audiences. During the 1960s Carlton United Breweries began taking over Queensland's regional breweries however it was struggling to compete with rival companies and commissioned George Patterson Noble Bartlett to come up with a solution. They in turn commissioned Max Bannah Animation to produce a series of commercials in 1977 promoting NQ lager to North Queenslanders. This involved the creation of the "Shinny Carlton" character. Isuzu Lu was a cartoon character created by Bob Browne to promote the Japanese Isuzu automobile franchise in Port Moresby. Isuzu Lu cartoons appeared every Friday in the Port Moresby Post-Courier and had a following among locals. Max Bannah was commissioned by Ron Dinsmore who wanted to help his friend who held the Japanese Isuzu automobile franchise registered as New Guinea Motors in Port Moresby. The result was a 60 sec. cinema commercial that integrated the Isuzu Lu character with live-action shots of an Isuzu utility. The insects in the commercial were drawn directly onto animation paper with black pens and then photocopied onto cels giving them a crisp lino-cut ‘look’. Cancer: Captain B sails the 'C' was a 10 min. animated educational film to explain cancer to children. It was produced in 1985. The idea for the film came in response to Max Bannah and his wife Sylvia Bannah's difficulties in explaining the disease to their son who was suffering from cancer. The film attracted the funding of the Queensland Film Corporation (QFC). In 1987 it received the Children’s Award for Science and Nature from the Australian Teachers of Media (ATOM). Educational Media International was responsible for sales and distribution rights. Biographical history
"Snookle" is a 3 min. animated film about a boy learning to take responsibility for his actions. It was commissioned by the Australian Children's Television Foundation (ACTF) in 1992 to be used in the ACTF's "Lift Off" series. "Snookle" was written by Steve J. Spears, storyboard by Max Bannah. It is based off the book "Snookle" by Paul Jennings. The film was accepted to be shown at the 1993 Annecy Festival. It was produced in 1992. Biographical history
"Winging It" was a 5 min. animated story about a young Australian backpacking in Jordan. The film was inspired by real life events experienced by his son.

It was accepted by the Australian Film Commission in association with SBS Independent for a 1997 animation initiative "Swimming Outside the Flags". Max Bannah "animated the film, drawing on paper and rendering backgrounds with pastels on paper. Sorin Oancea digitally composted the images in Toons program, and Toadshow’s Rick Caskey and David Pyle composed and recorded the music track. David Brown provided the youth’s voice-over." Biographical history
Isuzu Lu was a cartoon character created by Bob Browne to promote the Japanese Isuzu automobile franchise in Port Moresby. Isuzu Lu cartoons appeared every Friday in the Port Moresby Post-Courier and had a following among locals. Max Bannah was commissioned by Ron Dinsmore who wanted to help his friend who held the Japanese Isuzu automobile franchise registered as New Guinea Motors in Port Moresby. The result was a 60 sec. cinema commercial that integrated the Isuzu Lu character with live-action shots of an Isuzu utility. Biographical history
During the 1960s Carlton United Breweries began taking over Queensland's regional breweries however it was struggling to compete with rival companies and commissioned George Patterson Noble Bartlett to come up with a solution. They in turn commissioned Max Bannah Animation to produce a series of commercials in 1977 promoting NQ lager to North Queenslanders. This involved the creation of the "Shinny Carlton" character. Cut Price Stores commissioned Masius Wynne Williams to produce a series of TV commercials advertising their product using Cut Price Stores preexisting Cut Price Sam cartoon mascot. Graham Russell wrote the commercial, Max Bannah Animation animated it, Voice Plant recorded it and Bob Rees produced it. The TV commercial was produced in 1976.
