Colin Aggett photographs of Brisbane and surrounds
Collection
Collection of photographs taken by Colin Aggett in Queensland in the late 1970s. The collection includes original negatives, proof sheets and digital photographs. The majority of the images show buildings and architectural features in and around Fortitude Valley and Brisbane City. Also included are photographs of Griffith University, Warwick Rodeo, Kilcoy Races and the town of Cracow.
Colin Aggett was born in Forest Hill, London, in 1942. He studied photography at the Regent Street Polytechnic in London (now University of Westminster) and qualified in Scientific Photography in 1964. From 1966 he worked as a photographer and audiovisual technician at University of Surrey. In 1975 he took a position as audiovisual superintendent at the new Griffith University campus at Nathan in Brisbane where he set up and managed photographic, graphic, audio and video services for teaching and research. In 1978 Colin left Brisbane for Sydney and returned to London in 1979 where he worked at Goldsmiths College of London until his retirement in 2004. Photographs taken during his time in Brisbane were exhibited at the Schonell Gallery in 1979 and Brisbane Central City Library in 1986. Five of his photographs are in the Griffith University art collection.
