Series 1: Motion pictures (1929-1983?)
These films were mostly created by Brisbane experimental, amateur film-maker Len Pass. Some material has been created by others. The 55 films span the years from approximately 1929 to 1983 and range from documentaries, family home movies, time lapse films, holiday films and footage of significant events. The collection also includes 8mm films made in the experimental 'ultrapan 8' style during the 1960s.

'Meet the family’ and other scenes (1930-1939?)
This film contains a compilation of short black and white home movies. Some of the movies have titles, other scenes are untitled.
- ‘Meet the family’ shows footage of family members gathering in front of a car.
- ‘At Lone Pine’ shows family members outdoors and children taking horse rides.
- Footage of a group of women outside Cambridge House Boarding Establishment at Woody Point then a toddler walking around a yard.
- ‘Rough doings at Café de Scrap Up’ is a short comedy skit.
- Scenes of a passenger ferry arriving at Redcliffe, women outside Cambridge House Boarding Establishment, Woody Point, a man outside a stucco house, a tennis match, children, a tennis match, a child playing, a woman by a car and three women strolling across a bridge.

'Brisbane calling' (1939?)
This film contains pre-war footage of Brisbane and the Gold Coast. The film has a number of intertitles and other scenes which are untitled.
- Brisbane scenes including aerial views of ANZAC Square, Town Hall and the city; views (some aerial) of the Story Bridge near completion.
- 'As we tour the city we arrive in time' shows footage of the Brisbane Town Hall clock tower
- 'To view the parade of the Camerons' shows footage of a parade past the Old Windmill Observatory (The Tower Mill). The parade probably involves the Queensland Cameron Highlanders (61st Infantry Battalion).

Two untitled films (1940-1949?)
A reel containing two untitled films.
The first film contains footage of an outing organised for disadvantaged children. It was produced and photographed by members of the Queensland Amateur Cine Society. A preamble states ‘The children who play the main roles in this film are some of the less fortunate of our community. From seventeen Institutions taking part in this outing, are crippled boys and girls from the Montrose Home… orphans from the Queen Alexandra and Nudgee Homes… and sick children from our metropolitan hospitals’. The film contains footage of:
- planning the outing.
- a parade of cars carrying the children.
- children being pushed along on an inflatable dinghy in the water.
- children going on horse rides at the beach.
- performers entertaining a crowd.
- speeches by dignitaries.

Film of the royal visit of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, to Brisbane. This visit was significant is in that it was the first time a reigning monarch set foot in the state of Queensland. The footage includes large crowds lining Queen Street, a military march past and the royal motorcade.

User comment: The rink shown in this film was possibly in Bracken Street, Moorooka. The Brisbane Dance and Roller Figure Club trained and gave occasional performances at their ‘rink’ which was a large concrete slab, previously the floor of a temporary wartime igloo. There was also a person named ‘Hawker’ associated with the club and performers were known to wear pale blue costumes.
