Abstract
A collection of papers, photographs, audio visual material, badges, posters and ephemera relating to the life of Robert Vincent Anderson, also known as Uncle Bob Anderson. The collection also includes material related to the Anderson family, the Tripcony family, the union movement in Queensland, Aboriginal organisations and activism, and range of government and community organisations.

Administrative / Biographical history

Dr Robert Vincent (Uncle Bob) Anderson OAM is a Ngugi Elder from Mulgumpin in Quandamooka, South East Queensland. Uncle Bob Anderson was born in 1929. He was the first Aboriginal Australian to be appointed as State Organiser for the Building Workers Industrial Union (now amalgamated as the CFMEU). He has been active in numerous industrial disputes including the South African Springboks rugby tour in 1971. From 1988 Uncle Bob led or had an active role in many community organisations and was also a member of the Griffith University Council. Uncle Bob Anderson is deeply respected as the successful lead claimant on behalf of the Quandamooka People for native title which, as from November 2019, extends over 98% of Mulgumpin / Moreton Island.
