The collection comprises 30 project files from John Price Design. The files include architectural plans, as well as photographs, slides and drawings. Most of the projects are for residential premises, including renovations, new buildings and landscape design. One is a concept design for a flood-proof house to be built at Grantham, Queensland, following the devastating floods of 2011. Also included is material relating to the preparation of a recreation plan and development strategy for Lake Wivenhoe in the Brisbane Valley and a landscape design and maintenance plan for Coolum Caprice Beach Resort on the Sunshine Coast. The collection includes biographical information about John Price and his career as an architect.
John Price has worked as an architect and landscape architect in the United Kingdom and Australia. He was a student at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London in the late 1960s. Following graduation, he established his own international design practice in partnership with John Frisby, working with major clients in the United Kingdom. After a change of career working in the overland travel, expedition and safari industry in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, John settled in Brisbane, Australia. In 1977, John Price Design, an innovative collaborative design practice was founded, with expertise in domestic and commercial architecture, urban and open space design, site planning and landscape design, resort planning and design, corporate design and construction management. John Price retired in 2018.
