1976 Census maps
Collection
A complete (or near complete) set of maps produced by the Australian Bureau of Statistics as work tools for the 1976 census. The maps are likely to have been produced to inform and aid census delivery and/or collection throughout Queensland. The set comprises approximately 500 sheets. The maps show overviews of regions / shires on which census divisions are indicated, as well as more detailed maps of specific divisions, including towns, with all streets indicated. Maps of larger towns and cities are often divided into sections to maintain the required level of detail. There is a complete index sheet accompanying the maps. Each map is numbered and corresponds to the index. The Brisbane maps were prepared for the Australian Bureau of Statistics by the Division of National Mapping. Department of Natural Resources; Survey Office. Department of Public Lands, Brisbane and the Department of Geography, University of Queensland.
