• there is a copy of the information on the State Library of Queensland,  a short history of the institution and of the Library Board followed by the various Divisions and their services offered.
• this is followed by a summary of the Public Libraries Division and its Country Lending Service (CLS) followed by photographs of a couple of CLS libraries and the facilities at PLD such as the conference room (at the Montague Road building), PLD Training calendar for the 15th-19th May 1989, followed by photographs from this event;

Copy of the 1985 Report of the Committee of Review of the State Library of Queensland.  This 132 page report (to Mr Gill, Chairman of the Library Board of Queensland) reviews, and gives recommendations, regarding the State Library's function and role in preparation to the move to the new Cultural Centre building (that was completed and opened in April 1988).  The Committee comprised: Mr W.D. Richardson (Chairman), and Members Mr C. Gilmour and Mr J.K Jarrott).

Folder includes:

Memos and correspondence to the State Librarian and the Country Extension Service Librarian in the immediate aftermath of the 1974 Floods in Brisbane, during which PLD book stock was destroyed as it was housed in the Grey Street building on the banks of the Brisbane River at South Brisbane.

There is mention of thanks to the Chief Medical Officer and team for arranging tetanus shots for staff; from the Country Lending Services Librarian (Miss Gloria Huish) regarding impacts on service to CLS libraries, as well as condolences from librarians throughout the State, a longer correspondence outlining what benefits would be coming post restoration of the building including the use of the insurance monies to create an automated library management system ORACLE (Online Retrieval of Acquisition, Cataloguing and Circulation detail for Library Enquiry) which will greatly enhance the service.

There is a copy of the Circular sent to the CLS libraries from the Country Extension Service Librarian in the aftermath of the 1974 Floods and notifying them all of the suspension of services.  

Another collection of memos and correspondence with the old file number M1599.5 and entitled Public Libraries Service and date from 1974-1976, one memo dated 27.12.1974 outlines the creation of a new Service , the 'Public Libraries Service and outlines their duties and responsibilities and is signed by State Librarian (Lawrie Ryan); copy of a report dated 17 Mar. 1972 to the Minister re: Revised Library Subsidy Proposal for Local Authority Libraries; copies of Book Selection Aid prepared by the Country Extension Service and arranged by Subject area (dated November 1954); a single copy of 'A children's Book List 1957' which was published by the Library Board of Queensland; a page from the Postage and Petty Cash Book dated 21-10-86 giving the postage of parcels to the CLS libraries for October 1986; a copy of  the stamps placed on parcels sent via Qld. Rail in October 1991.

• a copy of 'Statement concerning some matters essential to improved Library Service in Queensland', prepared by State Library of Queensland Senior Staff for the Committee of Enquiry into Public Libraries, May 1975'
• a bound copy of 'Submission by the Library Board of Queensland to the Committee of Enquiry into Public Libraries (June 1975) (the lower corner of the front binding  says 'L.M. Pennington');
• a bound copy of Vol. 3 'Submissions to the Committee of Enquiry into Public Libraries' (cover title), being the Submission by the Queensland Branch of the Library Association of Australia to the Committee of Enquiry into Public Libraries (May 1975) (with various pagings and copies from other items tipped in).
