Administrative / Biographical history

Harry Sunderland was involved in sport as a competitor and administrator all his life. His early involvement was in Queensland becoming a Life Member of the Amateur Boxing and Wrestling Union, Brisbane Football League and the Brisbane Cricket Association before later moving south. He was also identified with the newspaper world from his early boyhood. He competed as a swimmer in the Australasian Championship meeting in 1909. His sporting involvement as an organiser covered cricket, boxing, wrestling, football, amateur athletics. He managed a record three Kangaroo tours, introduced the code into France and staged exhibition matches in California.
