Former school teacher and teacher librarian, James Moloney writes literary novels, action adventure, humour and fantasy for young people aged 7 to 17. His early work was inspired by his experiences while teaching in Queensland's 'outback'. Moloney won the first of two Australian Children's Book of the Year awards in 1996 for 'Swashbuckler' and again in 1997 for 'A Bridge to Wiseman's Cove'. He won the 2001 Victorian Premier's Prize for Young Adult Literature for the novel 'Touch Me'. In 1999 he received a Highly Commended in the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization's Award for Peace and Tolerance for his novel, 'Angela'.
