Abstract
Papers and works of art relating to George Edwards, a Lieutenant with the 57th Regiment who was assigned to the Brisbane convict settlement at Moreton Bay.
Scope and content
Personal items belonging to Lieutenant George Edwards of the 57th (West Middlesex) Regiment of Foot who was assigned to the Moreton Bay penal settlement. The collection includes: 'A Journal kept on board the "York" during its passage from Botany Bay to Madras between 19 July 1831 and 24 August 1831'; a watercolour miniature portrait of George Edwards; a badge of the 57th Regiment; a brass telescope; a watercolour painting of the vessel "York"; a watercolour painting of Madras, 1846. Also included is a typed transcript of his diary.
