Administrative / Biographical history
The Red Bicycle Touring Club was formed in Brisbane, probably at Kangaroo Point, in 1905. The club changed its name to Kangaroo Point Cycling Club in 1912 and has continued to function without a break since. The Kangaroo Point Junior Cycling Club was formed approx. 1914 at Kangaroo Point and held club meetings in a shed at the rear of the Pineapple Hotel. Major road races started in Ipswich and finished at the Pineapple Hotel.
