Administrative / Biographical history

Alfred George Jackson started Synchronome Electrical Company of Australasia in 1897. It dealt in electrical engineering and electroplating, and a major part of the business involved the Synchronome electrical clock system. The company installed a mechanically driven, but electrically controlled, tower clock in the South Brisbane Town Hall in 1904. An electrically controlled and driven clock was installed in the new Brisbane City Hall in 1929 by Alfred Jackson's son, Arthur Jackson.
