Administrative / Biographical history
In 1892, he became Chairman of the Queensland Central Executive of the Labour Party but left the party in 1899 over a socialist issue. In 1893-1894, he travelled the USA and N.Z. Mr Glassey also contested North Brisbane in 1893, Bundamba in 1904, Fortitude Valley in 1907 and the Senate in 1910. Thomas Glassey has been described as 'The father of the Queensland Parliamentary Labour Party'.
