Four illuminated albums. Three were presented to Adolphus Marcus Hertzberg in recognition of various services, and one presented to his wife Miriam Hertzberg (nee Cohen) as an expression of condolence upon the death of her husband.

Administrative / Biographical history

Aldophus Marcus Hertzberg was born in 1852 in Prussia. At the suggestion of his uncle R B Lewin, he emigrated to Queensland in 1867 aged 15. After arriving in Brisbane he traveled to Roma where he worked for his uncle. In 1873 he became an alderman of Roma, aged only 21, and in 1879 became Mayor, a position he held until June 1886. Hertzberg married Miriam (Minnie) Cohen on 21 June 1886 at Ulmarra, NSW. Following the wedding the couple moved permanently to Brisbane, they had 3 children, Marcus, Arthur and Olga.
