Administrative / Biographical history

In partnership with Henry Stuart Littleton (1844-1933) Mant established a quality shorthorn cattle station and later actively encouraged mining activity on the run, which yielded quantities of gold, copper and other minerals. In 1887 68,400 acres were resumed from the Gigoomgan run and offered for selection for the establishment of small farms. George Mant married Ellen Palmer in 1861, they had four sons and four daughters: Mary, Edith, Charles, William, Reginald, George, Ethel and Constance.
