Abstract
Archive of the Queensland Music Teacher's Association (QMTA), comprising administrative records including minutes, membership records, correspondence and financial information.
Scope and content

The collection includes photographs, a number of handwritten music scores, conference and seminar papers, event and concert tour material and some historical items from early members Mabel McAlister and Percy Brier. Although the bulk of the collection is the archive of the Brisbane-based organisation, there are also files from regional branches throughout Queensland.

Administrative / Biographical history

The Music Teachers' Association of Queensland was originally founded in 1921, as the peak representative body for music teachers. Since then it has also been known as the Musical Association of Queensland, and currently as the Queensland Music Teachers' Association. The Association has been largely based in Brisbane, although since the early 1970s, it has been active in regional centres throughout the state, including the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba, Biloela, Mackay, Mount Isa, Rockhampton, Townsville and Cairns.
