The collection consists of drawings and watercolours mainly by Eliza Hodgson (but including one signed by Conrad Martens and others) depicting Eton Vale and the neighbouring Darling Downs stations of Westbrook and Goomburra, as well as views of Brisbane, Sandgate, Moray Fields and "Cabulture" River sugar plantation; original photographs of Eton Vale, Drayton, cottages in Clopton Street and Hume Street, Toowoomba, copper mining, champion sheep bred by Hodgson and steam sheep washing; Hodgson family portraits by British photographers; small photographs taken by the Hodgson family on a return visit to Australia (1925); eleven mid-century daguerrotype and ambrotype portraits of Hodgson, wife Eliza and their children; an album of photographic views of Queensland (with bookplate of Arthur Hodgson), six account books covering the period 1853-1873; a cheque made out to Arthur Hodgson (1882) for the sum of 13,498 pounds 6s. 5d.; manuscripts of lectures given by Arthur Hodgson and a partial manuscript account by Francis H. Hodgson of a boyhood journey from Australia to England (1860); a printed diary with brief manuscript entries belonging to Sir James Dowling and further notes by his second wife Harriet; a printed map of Hodgson land holdings centered on the parish of Cambooya; a newspaper article about Eton Vale station (1880s); a printed and bound "In Memoriam" for Sir Arthur Hodgson compiled by his son Francis (1904); and nine 19th century medallions awarded to Arthur Hodgson in his role as Commissioner for Queensland at various international and inter-colonial exhibitions. Also two Victorian albums containing views by Eliza Hodgson. The first with views of Rome, Lake Como, Lake Geneva, Freyborg, Florence, Innsbruck, Ceylon, Panama and Aden, as well as landscape views, houses and churches in various English locations. The second with sketches of English rectories and churches.
