Photograph Album (1886-1888)
Photograph album created by John Henry Paul Berthon while working as an engineer on the Cairns to Kuranda railway.
The album contains images of the survey staff, campsites and construction work associated with the railway, views of Cairns and Cooktown and portraits of local personalities.

The photograph album is inscribed "J.H.P. Berthon, Scenes from North Queensland: a scratch collection of pictures subsequent to the Dacca wreck, 1890".
A poem by J.H.P. Berthon "A Reverie from the Australian Bush", 1887, appears at the beginning of the album.

The sketchbook includes sketches of the Berthon family property "Lullote" near Geelong in Victoria, Oakey Creek and Gogango in Central Queensland and the Mossman River and Gorge in North Queensland.
