Handwritten notebook compiled by Richard Henry Coulter while attending an intelligence course at the Australian Corps School in France. The first page of the notebook is dated 11 July 1918. The course included general intelligence, map reading and aerial photographs and notes on the German army.
The front cover of the notebook is inscribed "100%. Best N.C.O.s [non commissioned officer's] notebook".

Certificate of appreciation presented to Corporal Richard Henry Coulter by the citizens of Gooburrum Shire Council to thank him for his service during the First World War.
The coloured certificate includes a badge featuring the Union Jack, a portrait of King George V and the words "Australian Peace Celebrations 1919".

Series 2: Courtenay Family collection (1881-1950)
The collection includes correspondence, photographs, memorial cards, and ephemera relating to the Courtenay family of Mount Morgan, Mount Larcom and Wynnum in Brisbane.
Included in the collection is a military leave pass issued to Douglas Hugo Courtenay who served with the 25th Infantry Battalion during the First World War, as well as material relating to the death of Ivan Douglas Courtenay who died in the Rockhampton Hospital in 1927, aged 10 years, from scarlet fever. The collection also includes material relating to the Redshaw family and Rose Waters of Mount Morgan who were friends and neighbours of the Courtenay family.

Photograph of Harold Milo Mortimer Courtenay as a young child (1881)
Harold Milo Mortimer Courtenay was born in England in 1878, being the second son of Leonard James Cotton Courtenay and Sarah Courtenay, nee Maynard. He emigrated to Queensland in 1884 with his family, eventually settling in Mount Morgan. After leaving school at the age of 14 he worked at the Lakes Creek Meat Works near Rockhampton before training as a fitter and turner. In 1905 he married Lily Una Stella Jones. The couple had five sons. With his brother in law, Harry Jones, the two families became the first settlers of the Butlerville District, outside Mount Larcom, in Queensland. He eventually owned a property of over 5000 acres. He sold the property in 1950 and after a short retirement died in the Nambour Hospital on 20th May 1953.

The Sheepman's Note Book (1908)
The small notebook was published as a revised edition by William Cooper & Nephews in Berkhamstead, England. It is inscribed by Milo Courtenay and entries are dated in the early 1920s. The book may have been kept by Harold Milo Mortimer Courtenay or his son Milo Cadman Maynard Courtenay. The notebook contains information concerning sheep keeping as well as blank pages for memoranda, accounts and engagements. Much of the note book is blank.

Nina Jones and John Hopwood are in the centre of the photograph. Nina's brother is on the far right. Nina was the sister of Lily Una Stella Courtenay, the wife of Harold Milo Mortimer Courtenay.
Nina Jones and John Hopwood were granted a divorce in Rockhampton in June 1923. John Hopwood deserted his wife after the birth of their second child. The case was notable as it was the first in Central Queensland, under the new act, which constituted desertion as grounds for divorce. Nina married John Whillans on 10 November 1926.

Moulded celluloid photograph. The photographic portrait, printed on paper, is moulded around a metal frame with a celluloid plastic coating.
Mary McIlhagger was born in 1871, being the daughter of John McIlhaggar and Mary Jane Hall. The family emigrated to Queensland in late 1883, sailing on the ship "Goapara" from Plymouth, England, and arriving in Queensland in January 1884. Mary married Jacob Heiniger on 16 October 1888. The couple had 11 children and lived at Mount Larcom in Central Queensland. Mary died in Townsville on 16 January 1946, aged 75 years.

Rose Heiniger was born in 1908, being the daughter of Jacob Heiniger and Mary, nee McIlhaggar, of Mount Larcom. She attended the Bracewell State School, near Mount Larcom, and at the age of 19 entered the nursing profession, training at the Mackay District Hospital where she qualified as a trained nurse. She then trained as a midwifery nurse at the Rockhampton Women's Hospital. She worked at the Isisford Hospital and later the Hughenden Hospital. It was here that Rose met her husband, Gordon Charters Hardie, a grazier from the Winton District. The couple were married in Hughenden on the 11 October 1941. Six months later Gordon enlisted in the army for service during World War II. After being injured while in camp he was discharged as medically unfit. He died at the Greenslopes Hospital in Brisbane on 24 January 1952 at the age of 44. Rose than opened a small hat boutique in Townsville before working as a fashion buyer for the David Jones department store. In retirement she travelled extensively and died in Brisbane on 22 October 1999.
