Series 1: Correspondence (1909-1917)
This series contains personal, professional and administrative correspondence to Miriam from a wide circle of family, friends and colleagues. The types of correspondence includes letters, postcards. lettergrams, pictoral letters, cards, invoices, receipts and memorandums.
Much of the correspondence includes original envelopes showing Miriam's address or place of work at the time. A large number were sent to her at the Public Service Board in Brisbane where she was employed. Some correspondence was sent to her at different times when she was working and holidaying with family in Melbourne.
There are several letters from various members of the Queensland Public Service in Brisbane to their colleague Miss Miriam Dunn. The 1912 Brisbane General Strike is discussed in some of the correspondence.
Also included are letters and postcards from Army personnel during their training and from abroad while they were on active service.

Letter (18 September 1914)
Letter from the Reverend Andrew Gillison at the Broadmeadows Military Camp in Melbourne to Miss Miriam Dunn of the Public Service Board, Brisbane. He discusses his work as a Presbyterian chaplain at the Broadmeadows Military Camp. The envelope is included.
Reverend Gillison, of St. George's Manse, St. Kilda, Melbourne, joined the army as a chaplain in October 1914. He was shot at Gallipoli while assisting a wounded soldier and died of his wounds on 22 August 1915.

Letter from Gunner John McCracken of the 13th Battery, 5th Field Artillery Brigade, in Melbourne to Miss Miriam Dunn in Brisbane. He describes the death of Reverend Andrew Gillison in Gallipoli as related to him by an elder of the Presbyterian church.

Postcard (2 September 1914)
Postcard from Private Ernest Littler of Machine Gun Section at the Australian Light Horse Camp at Enoggera, Brisbane, to Miss Miriam Dunn in Brisbane. He writes that he will be sailing for Europe in a fortnight and has been issued with warm clothing.
Ernest Richard Joseph Littler who was born in Bundaberg, Queensland, was a Brisbane civil servant who enlisted on 19 August 1914. He was with the 2nd Light Horse Regiment. He embarked from Brisbane on the transport ship "Star of England" on 24 September 1914 and returned to Australia in March 1918. The postcard bears the imprint of the Brisbane Young Men's Christian Association with the Commonwealth Military Forces.

Series 2: Ephemera (1897-1930)
School certificates for Miriam Dunn and two of her siblings.
Programmes, invitations, tickets relating to Miriam Dunn, particularly her fund raising activities during World War I.
Also includes a small British flag on a bamboo stick. The flag has the words Allies Garden City (Australia Stall) on it and was used as part of a fundraising stall held in the Botanic Gardens Brisbane.

Series 3: Postcards (1907-1931)
Blank postcards, many produced as marketing and promotional material by the Queensland Government Intelligence and Tourist Bureau, Brisbane. The postcards feature photographs of the cities of Brisbane and Toowoomba as well as more regional areas such as Mackay, North Queensland, Southport, Burleigh Heads and Barron Falls.
The series also includes one black and white photograph of people playing deck games onboard a ship.
