Charters Towers Archives oral histories

Twelve oral histories conducted in 1996, as part of the Living in Charters Towers Oral History Project, recording interviews with people who lived in Charters Towers during the second World War. Interviewees include Adrian Bell, Mary 'Kitty' Wheeler, Bill Henderson, Alf Madsen, Lee Conn, Jessie Landsberg, Mary Coleman, Joe Gibson, Gordon Glenwright, Meg Ogilvie, Gotrdon Reid, and Norm Snell. Nine oral histories recorded as part of the Coral Sea Oral History Project in 1992, also recording recollections of people who lived in Charters Towers during WWII. Interviewees include: Frank Taylor, Phil West, Gladys Chappel, Keith Taylor, Don McLeod, Henry Weare, Mrs Cable, Maurice O'Brien, and Beattie Landsberg.
Playback is an oral history OPAL funded project designed to digitise, preserve and provide access to oral histories currently held in public libraries and communities throughout Queensland. The material for the project includes oral histories from the following:- Australian Sugar Industry Museum, Charters Towers Archives, Croydon Shire Council, Mapoon Aboriginal Council, Moreton Bay Regional Council, Redland City Libraries, Townsville City Libraries
