Series 1: Diary (1914-1916)
A digital copy of the diary of Nurse Agnes Kathrine Isambert, written during her service with the Australian Army Nursing Service from the time of her enlistment, 10 November 1914 until her deployment on the hospital ship 'Argyllshire' in February 1916.
She departed with the 1st Australian General Hospital contingent from Brisbane on HMAT 'Kyarra', in November 1914, arriving in Egypt in January 1915, where her unit was assigned to set up nursing facilities in the Heliopolis Palace Hotel. Initially they cared for patients from the military camps in Egypt until April 1915 when they received thousands of wounded and dying servicemen evacuated from the Gallipoli Peninsula.
