The photographs were originally housed in a self-adhesive album. The original order has been preserved.
The photograph album includes images of official visitors to Brisbane during the period in which Sallyanne Atkinson was Lord Mayor.
The visitors included:
- the Duke and Duchess of Kent
- Sir Walter Campbell
- Pope John Paul II
- the Duke and Duchess of Argyll
- Sir Ninian Stephen and Lady Stephen
- Bill Hayden and wife Dallas Hayden
- Prince Phillip the Duke of Edinburgh.
Other photographs are of World Expo 1988 and include images of the official opening by Queen Elizabeth II and visits by the King and Queen of Spain, and the Duke and Duchess of York (Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson),

The photographs were originally housed in three self-adhesive albums and have been amalgamated into one archival album. The original order of each album has been preserved.
Album 1 includes images of
- Duke and Duchess of Kent on their visit to Brisbane in 1985
- a civic reception at Brisbane City Hall to farewell the Governor of Queensland the Governor of Queensland, Sir James Ramsay, and Lady Ramsay, 19 July 1985
- the signing of the Brisbane-Kobe (Japan) sister city agreement by Lord Mayor, Sallyanne Atkinson, and the Kobe Lord Mayor in July 1985.
Album 2 includes images of
- the visit of Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, to Brisbane in May 1986 to officially open the Gateway Bridge.
Album 3 includes images of
- Brisbane Lord Mayor Sallyanne Atkinson's 1988 visit to Japan to present a gift of a Queensland lung fish to Brisbane's sister city of Kobe's Suma Aqualife Marine Park and South Korea to attend the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games
- Sallyanne Atkinson's visit to Japan to attend the Tokyo Session of the International Olympic Committee in 1990 as part of Melbourne's bid for the 1996 Olympic Games.
- The album also contains loose photographs of the royal visit of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip to Brisbane for the opening day of World Expo 88.

The album contains photographs of the visit of Pope John Paul II to Brisbane on 25 November 1986 as part of a wider Australian tour. The photographs document the Pope's arrival at Brisbane Airport where he was met by Lord Mayor Sallyanne Atkinson, Queensland Premier Sir Joh Bjelke-Petersen and Queensland Governor, Sir James Ramsay; conducting a public service at Queen Elizabeth II Stadium; reception at Brisbane City Hall with Lord Mayor Sallyanne Atkinson; public address from the balcony of Brisbane City Hall to the people of Brisbane; departure from Brisbane Airport.
