Scope and content

The material mainly covers the period of Sallyanne Atkinson's tenure as Lord Mayor of Brisbane from 1985-1991. The photograph album includes images of the Duke and Duchess of Kent; Queensland Governor, Sir Walter Campbell; Pope John Paul II; the official opening of World Expo 88; the King and Queen of Spain, 1988; the Duke and Duchess of York (Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, 1988; the Duke and Duchess of Argyll, 1988; Australian Governor-General, Sir Ninian Stephen; Australian Governor-General, Bill Hayden; Prince Phillip, the Duke of Edinburgh, 1990. Other material includes an Interim Feasibility Report on Brisbane City's Bid for the 1992 Olympic Games; transcripts of speeches and information relating to the development of South Bank; plans, sketches and correspondence regarding the relocation of bronze sculptures by Italian artist, Arnoldo Pomodoro, which featured at Expo 88, to King George Square in 1990; B.C.C. plaque which was presented to official visitors, ca. 1988. ; certificate appointing Sallyanne Atkinson s Brisbane Tourism Ambassador.
