Lutheran Archive language books from Hope Vale, Bloomfield River State School and others

Monkey Walngkanga (Monkey in the Bog) was originally produced in English by Dr. Paul White. With his permission the Wycliffe Bible Translators have translated it into the language of the Gugu-Yalanji people located between Mossman and Cooktown, Queensland.

Minya-minyanka Bibleku (Animals of the Bible) has been prepared by the Summer Institute of Linguistics, Australian Aborigines Branch, as a reader for Kuku-Yalanji people who have basic instruction in reading their own language. Kuku-Yalanji is spoken on the east coast of Cape York Peninsula between Mossman and Cooktown, Queensland.

Kiju (Crabs) was written as a research project by the Grade 7 students of the Bloomfield River State School, Queensland in June 1978. The basic translation into Kuku-Yalanji (Gugu-Yalanji) was done by Carolyn Nunn, teacher aide, and Marie Shipton, library aide. The linguisitc co-ordinators were members of the Summer Institute of Linguistics. The art work was prepared by Matt O'Riley of the Education Department.

Wambiji (Platypus) is a translation of a booklet entitled Peggy Platypus into the Kuku-Yalanji language. Wambiji was translated by members of the Summer Institute of Linguistics in conjunction with members of the Bloomfield River community.

Kuku Ngujuji (Funny Stories) is a collection of Kuku-Yalanji (Gugu-Yalanji) stories written or told by Barbara Yougie, Adelaide Baird, Alice Nandy, Carolyn Nunn and Rita King. The art work was prepared by Eddie Freeman, teacher aide and Matt O'Riley, advisory teacher in the Department of Education. Kuku Ngujuji is one of a series of booklets prepared for the vernacular literacy programme at the Bloomfield River State School, Queensland. Kaban Ngujuji (Fun Book) was prepared to encourage Kuku-Yalanji people to learn to enjoy books and to introduce the Kuku-Yalanji alphabet. It was designed with cultural illustrations so that both literate and illiterate may enjoy it. Kaban Ngujuji was prepared by members of the Summer Institute of Linguistics, Australian Aborigines Branch.

Jakalbaku, 'At the Beginning', is a translation of an English condensation of Genesis into the Kuku-Yalanji language. The translation was made by members of the Wycliffe Bible Translators, with help from people of the Bloomfield River area. The text and some of the illustrations were adapted from the Genesis Abridgement prepared by the New Guinea Branch of the Summer Institute of Linguistics.
