Scope and content

Digital copies of booklets of Kuku-Yalanji stories written or told by Barbara Yougie, Adelaide Baird, Alice Nandy, Carolyn Nunn and Rita King. Illustrations were provided by Eddie Freeman and Matt O'Riley. Some booklets were translated by Carolyn Nunn and Marie Shipton or written by students from the Bloomfield River State School. Also in the collection are digital copies of Guugu Yimidhirr Sketch Grammar and Jakalbaku (Genesis) The booklets were prepared for the vernacular literacy program at the Bloomfield River State School, Queensland in the mid 1970s. Some were underwritten by the Queensland Department of Education. The linguistic co-ordinators were members of the Summer Institute of Linguistics and John B. Haviland.
