Administrative / Biographical history

Gilbert Neil (1930-2022) was born in Wooloowin and grew up in Albion, in his maternal grandparents' residence 'The Dickinsons', and later at Annerley, in a longstanding Neil family house at 387 Ipswich Road. Gilbert attended Churchie and later trained as a dentist at the University of Queensland. His first dentistry job was at South Brisbane Dental Hospital before he went into a private practice at Wynnum. He married Everil Heiderman in 1962 and raised a family in Wynnum, before relocating to Cairns in 1974 where he continued working as a dentist. A life long film and photography enthusiast he keenly documented family occasions and local events. He passed away in 2022.
