Series 1: Photographs (1942-1949)
Photographs taken and collected by Daniel Crane, spanning much of his time serving with the 34th Brigade 'A' Field Battery Royal Australian Artillery (RAA) in post-war Japan as a member of the British Commonwealth Occupation Forces (BCOF).
Principally housed in a leather bound album, a number of which have hand-written captions underneath, there are also 60 loose photographs, and one mounted and framed studio portrait of Crane in uniform.

The stars displayed on a bar suspended below the badge represent the number of relatives involved in the war effort. In this case there is one, for Daniel Crane. It has been retained by the family in a small wood box with a sliding lid.

Autographed souvenir Japanese 'good luck' flag (hinomaru yosegaki) with the signatures of Allied soldiers and their service numbers. Made of white silk, the flag is printed with a crimson red hinomaru and was a traditional gift for Japanese servicemen deployed most notably during the Second World War.
The flag was typically a national flag signed by friends and family, with short messages wishing the soldier victory, safety and good luck.

Series 9: Miscellaneous items (1935-1937)
[Item 45] Prayer book.
'The small missal : containing the proper of the Mass for all Sundays and the principal feasts of the year, the rite of benediction, compline for Sundays, and other devotions'. This prayer book was presented to Daniel Crane in 1937 by his parents on his 13th birthday. Several pages are loose and includes fragments of pressed plants [now housed separately to the item]. The red fabric page maker is also loose from the binding.
