Administrative / Biographical history

George Samuel Deviney was a young farmer from 'Gladsdale' Helidon who enlisted with the 52nd Infantry Battalion, during the First World War. He was killed in action in Dernancourt, France in 1918. All of his letters and diaries, together with correspondence relating to his death and his posthumous award were retained by his family until donated to the John Oxley Library.
