Gordon George Gibson was born in Charters Towers on 25th October 1913 and later lived in Edmonton, North Queensland where he worked as a cinema projectionist from 1939 to 1941. He served in the Royal Australian Airforce 1942 to 1946, as a cinematographer and technician who maintained cinema equipment in the North East Area which included Horn Island, Port Moresby, Milne Bay and Maruake. He later worked as a freelance photocameraman with Cinesound Review Newsreel and worked for Kingcroft Productions (documentary makers). In 1956 he was appointed Queensland representative for Cinesound Review Theatrical Newsreel and Cinesound T.C.N. Daily Television Newsreel.
