Daphne Kingston papers

Memoir of Daphne Kingston (nee Watt) compiled in 2002 and sharing fragments of her life as a child living in Earlwood, Sydney and Mackay, North Queensland during the period from 1928 to 1945.

The memoir is in the form of narratives, photographs, ephemera items and postcards that describe her interaction with various family members and friends and the impact they had on her life.

The subject areas covered in the memoir include family links, friends, neighbours, discipline, religion, recreation, school, houses and the war.

Memoir of Daphne Kingston (nee Watt) compiled in 2002 and sharing memories of her school days in Mackay from 1935 to 1945, beginning at Victoria Park State School before progressing to Intermediate school in 1941 and finally high school in 1943.

Diary written in 1944 by Daphne Kingston (nee Watt) detailing personal thoughts and references to everyday activities, such as, going to pictures, had hair cut and recording marks obtained for school work.

Diary written in 1948-1949 by Daphne Kingston (nee Watt) detailing daily happenings relating to self and friends and expressing personal thoughts about her life and her attendance at social events.  Some pages missing.

The diary is accompanied by a list of names of people appearing in the diary and brief biographical information about them.

• categories of measurement that include, square measure, avoirdupois weight, miscellaneous weights, long measure, time measure, capacity, table of square, troy weight and fractions.

The latter pages contain general notes.

• two copies of the catechism 1936 authorised for use in Diocese of North Queensland
• the Soldier of the Cross training manual, one in a series of St Christopher books distributed by Church Stores, Rawson Place, Sydney, 
• an attendance stamp collection booklet and a communicants manual issued at the time of communication of Daphne Watt, Mackay, North Queensland.

Copy of "Australian Dried Fruits Wartime Recipes".

A cookbook that was distributed free to assist with cooking during the rationing of butter, eggs and cream by the Dried Fruits Publicity Committee.

Biographical record of Daphne Kingston beginning from her birth in 1928 to 2003 and includes her family and work histories.

Also detailed are her publications and exhibitions as well as travels undertaken.
