Power of Attorney document (with original envelope) for Mary Scott Cavill to Mr J. Fogarty and others fro Morris Fletcher and Cross (Solicitors, B&F Chambers, Adelaide Street, Brisbane), cover letter dated 15th November 1929 and signed H.H.Corser (of O'Shea O'Shea Corser & Wadley).  The envelope is addressed to Dick Cavill Esq., Prince Consort Hotel, Valley Brisbane, and the date stamped on it is 15 Nov. 1929.

Letter, on letterherhead and with its envelope, addressed to Dick Cavill Esq., Prince Consort Hotel, dated 21 January 1930, from Wm. A O'Hare, Chartered Accountants, Brisbane.  Cover letter from the Secretary being a statement of receipts and expenditure of the Annan River Syndicate and one page of a ledger.

A collection of eight pages labelled Stock Takings for the Private Bar of the Breakfast Creek Hotel, dated 24th November 1929.

A two page letter, on letterhead of Conwell and Co., Solicitors, to Mrs J Chandler, dated 7th October 1953 concerning the sale to N.J. Lambert.

A two page solicitor's typed document, on lined ledger paper, outlining a timetable listing events required to achieve the transfer of the lease of the Breakfast Creek Hotel.   The document is headed: re McGoldrick to Cavills Limited (Breakfast Creek Hotel).  The timetable date starts at June 24 1926 and goes to 8 September 1926  and gives their charges.

One page form titled 'Notice of sale or purchase of land', being the transaction between the seller Joyce Chandler, wife of James Harry Chandler,  2 Hamilton Road, Hamilton to Norman James Lambert, 16 Osborne Street, Redcliffe, the purchaser, and dated 6th October 1953.  It gives details of the land by local authority, county, parish, and town and gives particulars of the sale including the total sale price of £.3625.  It is signed by Joyce Chandler as the owner of the land.  It has the word 'copy' handwritten across the top.

Several copies or part copies of a document tied together and labelled: Castlemaine Perkins Limited with Gregory Cavill - Agreement for tenancy of Breakfast Creek Hotel, dated 1962 and drawn up by Flower & Hart Solicitors, Brisbane:

A typed copy of an indenture "made the twenty-sixth day of July one thousand nine hundred and sixty-two between Castlemaine Perkins Limited (hereinafter with its assigns called 'the lessor' of the one part and Gregory Cavill of Breakfast Creek Brisbane, in the state of Queensland Hotelkeeper (hereinafter with his executors administrators and assigns called 'the lessee') of other part witnesseth that in consideration of the sum of two thousand pounds (£2,000) agreed to be paid by the lessee to the lessor and of the rent hereby reserved and the covenants on the part of the lessee hereinafter contained the lessor agrees to let and the lessee agrees to take all those pieces or parcels of land described in the following schedule"

A one page letter, on Castlemaine Perkins Limited letterhead, dated 19th July 1968 to Mr G. Cavill, Breakfast Creek Hotel, returning his copy of the Agreement for Tenancy, from their lawyers.

Five typed letters to Mr. Dick Cavill, at various addresses from O'Shea O'Shea Lukin & Corser (Solicitors) regarding the sale of various Hotels:

Two page letter between Mr Dick Cavill, [of] Margate Beach Redcliffe, from Solicitors re Prince Consort Hotel-Valley Queensland Brewery Lts, dated 25th May 1926 being a timetable of events between Mar. and May 1926 detailing Bill of Sale etc.

Two page letter between Dick Cavill Esq., Breakfast Creek Hotel, and the Solicitors re Majestic Hotel- Brisbane re Cavill and Burke and Byrne being a timetable from 10th Feby. and 20 April 1926 detailing the adjustment of the amount of the land tax assessment and letters back and forward to a W.A. O'Hare and others. Letter dated 21st  July 1926.

One page letter between Dick Cavill Esq., Breakfast Creek Hotel, and the Solicitors re Prince Consort Hotel and Doughty & Graveson dated 21st July 1926 referring to events of March 8,1926 and the payment of commission to Doughty & Grayson and delivery of letters on behalf of Cavill.

One page letter between Dick Cavill Esq., Breakfast Creek Hotel, and the Solicitors re Prince Consort Hotel and J.J. Murphy dated 21st July 1926 referring to events of April 28,1926 and assisting Cavill with Mr Murphy's banking and the bill of sale and accompanying letters etc to facilitate the sale of the Prince Consort Hotel.

Three page letter between Dick Cavill Esq., Breakfast Creek Hotel, and the Solicitors re Prince Consort Hotel and J.J. Murphy dated 21st July 1926 referring to events of March 8 and 21st May 1926 regarding this sale to O'Mara & Robinson and others to complete the transfer of lease to Mr Murphy.

Three page letter, on solicitor's letterhead, dated 12tth July 1926 addressed to Messers Cavill Limited c/- W.A. O'Hare Esq., 5th floor T&G building, Queen Street, Brisbane from O'Shea O'Shea Lukin and Corser regarding the costs of preparing the Memorandum and Articles of Association of his company and requesting payment for these services.

Three paged letter, on the solicitor's letterhead, dated 21st July 1926 addressed to Dick Cavill Esq., Breakfast Creek Hotel from O'Shea O'Shea Lukin and Corser regarding their bill of costs in regard of the Prince Consort Hotel and J.J. Murphy.

Eleven loose pages of a ledger noting payments for goods by supplier in chronological order from June through August to 1926.  Most of the pages concern and are headed Perkins Co. and detail the daily supply of ale, stout, lager, rum and wine purchased from that company.  Other suppliers identified during this same period include: Penfolds Wines, Seppelt & Sons,S. Frazer, Burns Philp Co. and McWilliam Co.  The pages are numbered in the top right corner 1-22.

One page letter typed on solicitor's letterhead, and 1 typed page report, addressed to Dick Cavill, Langside Road, Hamilton from O'Shea O'Shea Lukin and Corser (Solicitors) regarding the mortgage given to him from Mrs Frazer and notig the condition of this transfer of mortgage/lease being the carrying out of repairs to be done to the property, Breakfast Creek Hotel, as per this report from Mr Richard Gailey.  The report was sent to Cavill's solicitors by John E. Biggs, General Manager, Messers Perkins & Co. Ltd.  The report is dated 20th July 1927 and this solicitor's letter dated 27th July 1927.

Receipts and invoice for items supplied for the running of the Prince Consort Hotel (made out to Mr Richard or Dick Cavill) and personal household items for Mrs. D. Cavill between 1926 and 1931 from a variety of suppliers:

• T.C. Beirnie & Co. to Mr. D. Cavill, Langside Road, Hamilton for women’s clothing (hose, shoes, slips, night gown, bloomers), boy’s suits, hats etc and domestic items (such as pie dish, copper kettle, watch glass), dated 30 June 1928. Has a handwritten note on reverse ‘Paid 21/8/28’.
• T. McWilliam & Co., to Mr R. Cavill, Prince Consort Hotel, for Melbourne Bitter ale quarts and Abbots lager quarts, dated 19th June 1931. 
• T. Finlay & Co. for port wine dated June 16, 1931
• Bulimba Brewery for ale, dated 16 June 1931
• Penfolds Wines Ltd, for Rich port, V.O. Invalid port and R.R. Port, dated 16 July 1931
• Queensland Brewery for Bulimba beer, stout, ale and Q.B. lager dated 16 June 1931

• Allan and Stark to Mrs D Cavill, Langside Road Hamilton, for personal items (such as hose, sox, hat, bath salts, talc powder, tooth brushes, soap, box of handkerchiefs, shoes and gloves) dated June 26th 1928.  Handwritten note on reverse ‘Paid 20/8/28’
• Bellows Reeve Co. memorandum of discount offer if payment of account is received by 1st Oct [for] Journeys through bookland, no year given
• Solicitors note to Cavill Ltd dated 1st December 1926, c/ W. A. O’Hare Esq., 5 Floor T&G Building, Queen Street Brisbane, to O’Shea, O’Shea, Lukin and Corser, referencing an item dated July 12 1926 ‘to account rendered re registration of Boy £46 5- requesting cheque at your earliest convenience’.

For the Breakfast Creek Hotel:

• Grocery list for fruit and vegetables and receipts for the Breakfast Creek Hotel dated 27 December 1967
• 5 slips/memos to Dick Cavill, Breakfast Creek Hotel being credit notes from Automatic Distributors (Queensland) Limited, dated 3rd December 1926 and 10th November 1926; and 3 slips to Dick Cavill, Breakfast Creek Hotel headed ‘Monkey Brand Peanuts’ being credit by the Breakfast Creek Hotel and Automatic Distributors (Queensland) Limited ‘by commission on machine takings from 1st-31st Oct., dated 1st Nov. 1926.

Two 'Deferred Payment Certificates' both dated 1 July 1926 and made out to Dick Cavill - the 1st of the Prince Consort Hotel and the 2nd of the Breakfast Creek Hotel: and covering 6 months ending 30//6/26.

One page letter typed on solicitor's letterhead, addressed to Mr Yet Sun, Albert Street Brisbane from O'Shea O'Shea Lukin and Corser (Solicitors) on behalf of their client Mr Dick Cavill the owner of the premises occupied by Mr Sun.  They advise him that the rent for his shop is going up from the 18th of September 1926.

One page typed letter, on letterhead to Mr D. Cavill from F.E. Shortt & Co. (Insurance brokers) and dated 2nd May 1928, concerning the insurance of his Buick Sports Roadster.  There are questions for him to answer regarding his Third Party legal liability.  They are offering to take over the insurance and act on his behalf, instead of the original company Metropolitan Motors Ltd. 

Two page letter typed on solicitor's letterhead, addressed to Dick Cavill, Breakfast Creek Hotel from O'Shea O'Shea Lukin and Corser (Solicitors) and dated 24th August 1926 outlining adjustments made to his proportion of the Council rates, telephone charges, sewerage rates and insurance premiums due between Mr Cavill and a Mr Anderson.

One page letter, typed on solicitor's letterhead, addressed to Mr Dick Cavill, Margate Beach, Redcliffe from O'Shea O'Shea Lukin and Corser (Solicitors) and dated 25th May 1926 regarding the Prince Consort Hotel in the Valley and Queensland Brewery Ltd. and the completion of the matter resulting in the release of securities.  They enclose their bill of costs for payment from him.

One page letter, typed on solicitor's letterhead, addressed to Mr Dick Cavill, Breakfast Creek Hotel, Brisbane from O'Shea O'Shea Lukin and Corser (Solicitors) and dated 21st July 1926 regarding the Majestic Hotel Brisbane and Burke and Byrne. They enclose their bill of costs for payment from him.

One page letter, on letterhead from the ANZ Bank, to Mr. G. Cavill, Breakfast Creek Hotel, dated 23rd November 1981 advising him of the finalising of the sale of the Pinkenba Hotel and notifying him of the payment and disbursement of proceeds from the settlement of this sale. The letter confirms that the proceeds have been disbursed in terms of his instructions thus: Credit A/C No. 3610-74486 Warrior Investments Pty/Ltd $1,686,515.99. Three small teller receipts or deposit notes for the relevant amounts and names are also included. 

One undated book of unsold raffle-style tickets, with a sailing ship logo,  the words ‘Breakfast Creek Hotel’ 2 bottles beer, and the ticket numbers from No. 125752 through to 12800.  A small note on a slip of paper accompanies the ticket book and states ‘Breakfast Creek Bridge races 1950?'.

Two round drink coasters printed with Breakfast Creek Hotel -  Spanish Garden BBQ -  (07) 2625988 on a red background with a flaring bull logo printed in the centre; reverse has the same bull logo but on a plain background with the words '“Cav’s” Spanish Garden Bar-B-Q , Labrador, Gold Coast (075) 32 2954'.

One postcard of the Breakfast Creek Hotel 1889-1989 seen from the water.  Text printed on the reverse says ‘Built in 1889, the Breakfast Creek Hotel is renown for wooden keg beer and superb steaks. Phone 262 5598.'

Three pieces of otherwise blank paper with three different designs of letterhead for the Breakfast Creek Hotel.

One slightly stained paper bag featuring the Breakfast Creek Hotel logo and printed with the words ‘Complimentary Doggie Bag – Breakfast Creek Hotel – 1889-1989’.  The bag is undated but is in or post 1989.

Newspaper clippings, many unidentified or dated:

1. Article titled ‘Mounted thief astonished city’ (shocking daylight robbery)  It is a reprinted article (reprinted possibly in the 1980s) originally from 1902 and probably from the Brisbane Courier.
2. Two pages photocopied from the Brisbane Courier, Saturday November 9, 1929 (page 5ff) showing the Breakfast Creek Hotel for sale by tender (purchase of the lease-license-goodwill and furniture) – it will close Saturday Nov. 16.  Lease expires June 20, 1937.  Full particulars can be obtained from Cavills Limited, Prince Consort Hotel, Brisbane.
3. Laminated photocopy of newspaper article with handwritten date September 1931.  It is from the ‘Toowoomba Chronicle and Darling Downs Gazette’, Wednesday 31 December 1930, page 9.
4. Laminated advertisement from newspaper advertising the Breakfast Creek Hotel’s ‘Mexican Garden’ as a new treat for lunch time gourmets.  It is from the Brisbane Telegraph, Saturday 24 February 1968, page 7.

One photocopy in black and white, of an estate map ‘Plan of second section of Hennessy Estate, Breakfast Creek, comprising 63 allotments for sale on the ground on Saturday 16th March 1889 at 2.30 sharp, Arthur Martin & Co. Ltd auctioneers.’ (also shows a local sketch in lower right corner) (Printed by Watson Ferguson & Co. Lith. Brisbane).

One page letter, on Breakfast Creek Hotel letterhead, from Greg Cavill to Ross, dated 16 October 1997, thanking him for sending the newspaper article about the sale of the pub, and commenting on the lease and whether they will still be leaseholders as Austotel want to take it over.

One transcript of a newspaper article typed: ‘Taken from Brisbane Courier 21 May 1890.  New buildings – Breakfast Creek Hotel’ [page 6] and describing he exceptional new hostelry of Brisbane and its offerings.

Handwritten note (in top left corner) ‘Brisbane, Australia’ and a photocopy of an advertisement “Breakfast Creek hotel. – A first class house with every facility – Plunge and shower baths – good stabling – Having four views which cannot be equalled in or around Brisbane – nothing but the best brands of wines and spirits kept, at city prices – W.M. Calloway Proprietor – N.B. – Trams and buses every 10 minutes to and from the city from 7 am till 11.30pm".

Two printed Tariffs cards for the current tariff rates of this hotel, Breakfast Creek Hotel, G. Cavill proprietor.  One has the rates in pounds and is typed and has in red ink through the middle the following note ‘Fire extinguishers are placed at the head of the main stairway and at rear verandah – outside kitchen.  Fire exits are at both ends of the main hallway’. It also gives the times for breakfast, luncheon and dinner.  The second one is also for the same hotel and proprietor but has the details are handwritten in ink and the prices are in dollars.  No specific notes are included and the price is for ‘bed and breakfast’ only.
