Private Garner, also a bookbinder, enlisted with William Dawson and served with the 4th Australian Field Ambulance. He did not return to Australia, but was discharged in England medically unfit, due to his failing eye sight.

Series 2: Postcards (1917-1919)
Postcards, principally written by Private William Currier Dawson to his wife and children during the First World War.
Dawson was 40 years old when he enlisted on 14 August 1917. He embarked from Sydney, on board HMAT A14 Euripides, as part of the 30th Reinforcements of the Australian Medical Corps, and served on the Western Front with the 11 Field Ambulance. He returned to Australia on 23 March 1919.
