Series 2: Diaries (1914-1917)
Two diaries recording Arthur Stanley Dobbs' experience as part of the 7th Light Horse Regiment in the First World War.
Item 2: 1914-1915 diary, in which Arthur Stanley Dobbs records his embarkation from Sydney on the HMAT Berrima A35 on 19 December 1914, and the voyage to Egypt. He reveals daily activities in the Light Horse training camp and on the Gallipoli Peninsula, and writes that arriving at the Dardanelles and digging into the hills beyond the beach on 18 May 1915 was 'the greatest day of my life'.
Item 3: 1917 diary, in which Arthur Stanley Dobbs describes daily routine and operations in the desert as part of the 7th Light Horse. As the regiment moved across the Sinai and into Palestine, he records his locations, including El Arish, Kantara, Mazaar, Masaid.
